Hurray!

I GRADUATED!! Hallelujah ;) It took a loooong time but now it’s finally over! I am very, very tired right now, so that’s why I might not look that happy on that picture, but I am! It’s really weird though, because I don’t feel really happy yet. I mean, I thought this would be the most happy day of the year, but I don’t feel that way. Not because I’m ungrateful or anything, it just feels like reality isn’t really kicking in yet? I’ve been busy with graduating for SO long (I’ve started in February and have been working on my redo since July!) that it feels really odd now it’s finished. I don’t feel really relaxed yet, I still have the feeling I have to do stuff, but I don’t have to. It’s a very weird feeling, but I’m sure it will fade soon :)
I’m just really happy it’s over and I’m also happy with the new things I’ve created :) Here are some pictures of today’s presentation.. it aren’t the greatest pictures nor presentation ever.. but at least it’s something ;) Now I’m probably off to bed, haha! I’m going to sleep in tomorrow without feeling guilty <3 Just like I've done nothing tonight except editing pictures and other useless things, without feeling guilty because I have to do something for school! It feels amazing :) Tomorrow I'm going to Rotterdam, to Primark, which is this very cheap clothing store. I have to treat myself after all that hard work, you know ;)

Yes, I’m still alive!

Hello everyone, yes, as the title says so, I’m still alive! I haven’t posted in months! I didn’t even realize that it has been such a long time ago. So here’s a very short update (expect more and bigger ones soon, I have lots of pictures to show you guys! I wonder if anybody is still reading this, besides my brother ;))
- In the last post I was talking about an assessment/retake for school. Last summer I failed art school and I needed to redo a project, which I did at the end of August. Well, I failed again!
- Tomorrow I have ANOTHER assessment, and if that one’s finally good enough, I’m graduated!
- In the meantime I’ve been shooting lots of pictures for my 365 days project, my grandparents 60th anniversary (yes, 60 years of marriage, woah!) and cats & castles in little jars. That’s about it, really! Oh and I now work at Subway so I’m also a ‘sandwich artist’ now! Yes, it actually says that in the contract, haha :D
- I’ve chopped all my hair of, dyed it darkbrown, then it became darkblonde, then more copper and now at the moment it’s bright red!
- This is kind of procrastinating but I just felt the urge to post! This blog really needs a new layout!

Here’s a picture of my schoolproject, so you can see what I’m working on! This picture has actually been on Explore on Flickr, which means it’s one of the top 500 most interesting uploads of that day (and believe me, there are TONS and TONS of pictures being uploaded on Flickr on a day.. so a top 500 isn’t that much ;)). It is now my most popular picture on Flickr, with 255 favourites and almost 3000 views, wow! I also really like it :)

359 days left!

The ’365 days’ project is going well! I’m on the 6th day today, I took this picture for today! I went to the Ikea to buy some bookshelves and also bought this beautiful fabric. When I got home (quiet late) this idea just popped into my head! Sometimes it’s hard to make something creative everyday, even after 6 days. I mean it’s really hard to create something every single day, 365 days long. Some days you just don’t feel like doing anything, or you’re just tired, or you just don’t have any inspiration at all. Yet you do have to take that inspiring, creative selfportrait. I don’t think every selfportrait will be very creative, but I do love the project. I love it because this way I keep productive and I really like the stuff I’ve created so far. :) I probably wouldn’t have made some things if it weren’t for this project, most of them turned out suprisingly nice.

This week is going to be busy, tomorrow I might go to Amsterdam (not sure yet though), Wednesday I have my exams resit, which basically means that if I finally get a good grade on my project, I’ve graduated from artschool! Needless to say I’M SO NERVOUS OMG! So, Thursday my parents and brother are coming to my town, so I can finally show them the city after 4 years. On Friday I have a birthdayparty of a good friend of mine and hopefully Saturday a small, last mine graduationparty for my family? But ofcourse I’m not sure about that.. Can’t wait for Wednesday to be over D: (If I pass, that is, if I don’t I never want it to be Wednesday lol!)
Also my hair is freaking greasy, I haven’t washed it in a week.. well not with shampoo that is. Like I said in my previous blog, I’m on the ‘no poo’ diet, which basically means you’re only washing your hair with conditioner. But it’s looking so gross and I really need to get my roots done.. ugh. Might just wash it in a few days anyway, can’t handle it anymore :P

I could start an animal shelter, I think. This is Ming Shu, a kitty of a friend of mine! Right now I’m babysitting Mao, an other cat from another friend ;) But now I’m babysitting Ming Shu AND Dunny (a bunny!) too. Boy oh boy, I do love animals :P

I have lived here at Mao’s place (the kitty, obviously :P) for 2 weeks now and have cooked almost everyday. I feel so healthy.. except today, I ate fries at Ikea.

I’m so tired right now but I need to get more schoolwork done! I need to finish the typography of the pictures.. I suck so hard at typography, I hate it with a passion :(

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here! I haven’t got that much to say, I’ve been busy with my school assignment (only a little week left!) & I’m just enjoying summer, going out with friends, sitting outside with my housemates till 1.30AM, taking lots of pictures, you know the drill ;) I’m also still babysitting the autistic cat, still haven’t touched her! That cat is kinda weird.. I’ve also started with the ‘no poo diet’, which sounds like I can’t poop or anything. Thank God it doesn’t have a thing to do with real poo! It basically means you’re not using shampoo anymore to wash your hair and just use lots of conditioner, with natural ingredients! My hair is already reaaaally greasy so I’m curious how long this ‘diet’ will last, but it’s interesting to try it out! Hopefully my hair will be less dead in a few weeks or so..
I’ve also started a ’365 days project’ on Flickr, which means I’ll take a picture of myself everyday for a year! That way, I’ll always have to reinvent myself and will have a good excuse to take some lame selfportraits! I stayed up all night so I could take pictures at sunrise.. although they didn’t really turned out the way I wanted them to be.. I still like them! So here are some of them..

I ate too much meat today

I’ve been busy lately with my school assignment, but not really sure about it. I tdo like the pictures, but I just don’t think they’re good enough! They’re good enough on it’s own, I love them, but not for my assignment I think! I’m not sure yet :x I’ve been at my parents for more than 2 weeks now, but tomorrow I’ll be heading to my own city again! I’ll be babysitting a kitten (okay cat, kitten just sounds more cute ;)) from a friend, who’ll be leaving to Greece for about a month! That’s a long time, yes! My parents are so sweet to bring me there by car, since I have so much stuff to carry along: all those new books, new clothes, new bags, new cameras, my jars! And I’m also getting an extra closet, so I’ll have more space for my clothes! Yay :D I do hope my parents won’t collapse by seeing the mess that is my room D:
I also had my bankaccount verified at Paypal so I started buying things. First of all I’ve bought myself a Flickr Pro account, amazing! I love it, I also came across some really old photos, like these! It’s a bit embarrassing sometimes, but I’m too nostalgic to actually delete them :P
I’ve also made an account at Etsy, finally! I’ve bought some feather pads, which weren’t that expensive! I’m so excited, now I can make my own feather headbands very easily!! :D

Insomnia is about to happen

I’ve been working on school today, but I’m not sure if I’m satisfied with the results. I do think the pictures look pretty, but I’m not sure if they’re good enough. The leaves in the jar are hardly visible… Oh well, I’ll see! Today I also bought a cheap plastic camera at the thriftstore, instead of buying an ‘expensive’ Holga or Diana+! I’m curious for the results :D
Futher than that, internet is being annoying (throwing me on and off the internet, aargh!), I watched Super Size Me with my dad (oh so gross, I can’t imagine people going to McDonalds every week, let alone every day :() and ehm, that’s about it? I feel the sleep kicking in, so I’m just going to leave you with some pictures of the children’s book I’ve bought at the fleamarket!

The books, only 50 cent each! :) Some of the typical stuff every illustrator has to have, like Miffy and some other well known Dutch things as Little Frog, or illustrators like Philip Hopman and Carl Cneut :D And a popup book!

Today (yesterday?), Part II

I made a tiny piano out of paper maché while listening, incidentally, to Regina Spektor. I love her music, I love pianos and she uses a piano for almost every song! The piano is for my school project, where I should work much more on!
Anyway, here are some other pictures from yesterday, where I was at my grandparents :) And I’m afraid that in the next few weeks you’ll be seeing lots more pictures of the jars ;)
I also bought 12 rolls of film today, for only 9 euro all together! So I wanted to shoot a few shots with my old Fujica, a present of my mom, but the light meter is broken. I already loaded film in it, so I’ll use it anyway. The results will definitely be suprising now.

Felt a bit bored today so went outside to take some pictures for school, for my memory project! Found an abandoned school, I think, but it was closed so I couldn’t get inside, such a shame! Although through the windows I could see there was some sort of alarmstystem, still working, so maybe it’s better :P

Some schoolstuff

I hardly slept this week, just thinking and thinking things over. All of a sudden I came up with an idea for my assignment, so the next day I went to the thriftstore and bought all kinds of bottles. It’s an assignment about promotion for a book, I won’t bother you with all the details but my idea was to make pictures of bottles with memories in them. In the book there’s a detail about a woman who does that, only her bottles are empty, but in my bottles I want to make a real memory: a memory about something from the book! In these pictures there aren’t any memories yet (the buttons just were in the bottle already and I liked the image), so don’t worry, it’s still a raw concept ;)

Here’s a part of my exposition of my graduation assesments! Unfortunately, I didn’t pass :( So I have to remove it for the real exposition :( Such a shame, was so looking forward to the expo! Now I’ll probably graduate at the end of the summer, all alone, without any exposition or graduation parties! Oh and did I mention NO VACATION AT ALL?? Bummer :(
