Mini update

Hello, I’m still alive but I haven’t been able to update the blog sooner. My life right now is all about work, and hardly about any fun! Although I do enjoy my days off, I don’t really do much, not even taking pictures! So I haven’t got much to post, actually. In 4 weeks I will get my life back, but for now it’s all about work. I don’t really mind though, that way I can save up money for a new camera. I really want the Canon EOS 7D, but it’s really expensive. If the 60D comes out soon, I’ll probably go for that one. I’ve been waiting for it for ages though! I have also bought a new phone, a smartphone so I can actually use it for internet and apps. It should arrive Thuesday, I’m very excited!

My hair is growing fast! As you can see the roots are gigantic and the shaved part is already tons longer. I still really like it! I haven’t dyed my hair for almost 3 months now! I’m proud of myself ;)

New headband and stuff

An update earlier than planned! Today I received my camera’s remote in the mail: superfast! I ordered it about a week ago, and it has already arrived, all the way from Hong Kong. It costs 3 euro, that is including shipping and batteries, crazy! My old remote costs 30 euro, and I spend 10 euro alone on new batteries. If I had known this, I would have ordered the ‘fake’ one from eBay immediately. Now I’m stuck with expensive batteries I can’t use! Oh well, at least I have a remote again :)

Also bought a new headband, which is ofcourse a good reason to take pictures ;) It’s so pretty!

It’s still really hot here, although it’s thundering and raining right now. It’s not raining that hard, but I do hope it will cool down a bit. It’s getting unbearable! :( Thank god I have a fan!

I’m loving my hair right now, I can’t wait to grow it all out for a few months so I can finally have healthy hair in my very own haircolour! After that I’ll bleach it again, ofcourse ;) But it’s fun :)

Testing out the new remote. As you can tell I really love hair accessories! It’s also too hot to wear glasses, but contacts are so annoying sometimes. I have also bought a new dress. And new shorts, shirts, glasses.. I’ll make a post about those soon :)

Fresh strawberries are the best thing ever!

I cooked myself some dinner and it looked (and tasted) so delicious that I had to take a picture of it! I need to cook more often, I wish I didn’t hate cooking so much (or that I’m so lazy ;))

I’m downloading True Blood right now, I need another cheesy tv-show now I’ve finished all the Glee eps :(

I’m still here

I would like to inform you all that I’m still alive! However, the last couple of weeks it has been really, really hot and humid here in the Netherlands. It’s almost unbearable :( It’s not really the weather to take pictures or be active, plus I had to work ofcourse! My camera’s remote is still broken, I have ordered a new one but it will probably take forever till it’s here. I’ve been busy a lot and haven’t used my camera much, so that’s why I hardly updated. I will have to work A LOT so don’t expect much updates soon ;)

What have I been doing the last weeks? While, like I said, I worked, spent lots of time at sea or at friends, watched a lot of Glee (so sad this season’s over, I want to watch more!) and read a lot. That’s it, basically. Right now I’m reading Twilight (yes, that Twilight!) and it’s so boring I’m not sure if I can complete it!

I also got a haircut, as you can see it’s REALLY SHORT. That’s my natural haircolour, ladies and gentlemen! The other side is still ‘long’ though :) It was a bit of a shock, it wasn’t my intention to get it cut that short, but the hairdresser basically buzzed half of my hair of. I really like it now though, and it’s really nice with this hot weather!
(and yes, my hair so short/light/thin even that you can see that huge mole on my head, do not want! it’s growing really fast though :))

Look at me, I’m a polar bear: hear me roar! ;) That is the most warm and softest vest I own, I love it! It immediately reminded me of a polar bear.
Anyway, I’ve been wanting to post a lot more the last week, since I took tons of useless pictures! But I had to work the last couple of days so no blogging. Till now! I really like blogging with a certain theme, but this time it’s just tons of pictures scrambled together.
Tomorrow one day of work left and then I’m 4 days off! I want to go to school, going to look at the graduation show (it’s not officially opened yet, but I just can’t wait! it’s a 5 minute walk from my house anyway), desperately need to clean up my room, need to catch up with Glee (I’m hooked!!), see friends and also make a plan for the future. Lately I’ve been working only 3 days a week, so I figured it would be a great time to make steps towards a more ‘creative’ career :) We’ll see how it goes!
That being said, I miss my camera’s remote control dearly :(

Lately I’m really into big, oversized shirts! They’re amazing, although I don’t exactly know why. My style is a bit of everything: at some days I like to wear a cute dress or skirt and look all feminine, on other days I just like to wear pants, hats and oversized shirts! I even bought short pants (like shorts, but longer ;)) at the thriftstore! It has flowers on it, which is the only reason I bought it. I’m not really into short pants.. don’t think it’s my style ;) But then again, what is? Will post pictures soon!

My dad’s glasses, I decided to take an artsy picture out of boredom ;D Those glasses have the same prescription as mine, as you can see it’s a bit crazy :P That is the biggest reason I hate wearing glasses: they make my eyes so tiny :( I love glasses though!

My brother has graduated high school so we went out to eat! It was really nice :)

Tons of books (and tons of pictures)

Today I went to my grandparents. My grandfather is a huge collector of books: he has two big sheds full of them! Books are his life, his passion, and he loves talking about them and shows me the most random books :) However, he is quiet stingy, in a weird way. When he can’t sell a book, he’d rather burn it than give it away! There is a place in the meadow-land that I’d like to call the ‘book mortuarium”.
Anyway, I always love taking pictures there, so many photogenic things around! Talking about pictures, I’m saving up for a new camera. I really want the Canon Eos 60D (okay, if we’re talking about cameras I’d really want I’d really like a 5D II.. or a digital/non-digital Hasselblad or a Leica or… let’s just talk about things I can sort of afford ;)). I know it’s not out yet, but I hope it will come out soon. I really like the features the 50D has, but I really want a HD filming function, just like all the new cameras nowadays have. Can’t wait!

Happy Easter!

Hope you have a nice Easter! I love Easter, I love eastereggs and the chocolate bunnies! My mom still gets me one every year and it makes me happy like a little child :D Lately I’ve been quiet boring, besides the happy news that I got a new job, I’ve got nothing to say. I have nothing to blog about, besides some random things. That makes me a bit sad and since I’m already a bit down this week, here’s a post with some random things that made me happy :)

My old iPod got broken so I got myself a fancy iPod Touch! It’s sooo amazing, I love the WiFi on it and all the apps you can download! There are some amazing games you can do :D

My headphones, I love them. I always get nice comments when I wear them in the city! :D Last week a kid wanted to steal them, it was hilarious.

I like playing with my food and I like drawing faces on random things. Tonight I found a red hat in my dinner and decided to play with it and put it on my finger, to much of my mother’s dismay. It looked like a little goblin!

Out of boredom I started to draw on this picture too. I just noticed that it looked just like there was a tiny fox lying in my hand! It even already had the whitish tip at the end of the tail, so funny!

So it’s a Saturdaynight and I’m sitting alone on the couch, updating my blog & watching New Moon. It’s so bad it’s hilarious! I have no idea what’s happening though, I’m not really paying that much attention. But it is freaking hysterical, lol!

Some random stuff

-Today my new lens arrived, the picture above is taken with it! I love it so much, it’s so amazing. I love how sharp and crisp it is and aah, the bokeh! How I love bokeh! It’s a Sigma 30mm 1.4 and it’s wonderful. Most of the time I used a (canon) 50mm 1.8, but because my DSLR has a cropfactor, the 50mm became more like 80mm (or whatever), so that’s really annoying. This one is specially designed for DSLRs with a cropfactor, it’s such a relief! Now I never have to lean back and all that jazz, plus it’s 1.4 instead of 1.8! Total win/win situation ;) This weekend I’m going to my parents to celebrate my mother’s & brother’s birthday AND my graduation, so I’ll be sure to take a lot of pictures then! Lately I’ve been only taking selfportraits and after a while it gets boring to only post selfportraits.. But alas, this post is all about selfportraits.. AGAIN. I’m sorry! It’s the only thing I have to do everyday, for my 365 days project. I swear I’m not a huge narcissist haha!
- Today I found a library book back by accident! I had lost it 2 months ago and was expecting a bill for a new book every second.. so I ran to the library and handed it in. I only had to pay 3 euro! When I got home today after work I found the bill on my doormat: 20 euro! So glad I’ve found it, just saved myself 17 euro ;) I know, that was random and uninteresting haha.
- I’m thinking about making a ‘to do’ post about henna soon. I need to redo my hair and people always ask me tons of questions about it, so I might as well make a post about it that everybody can read.. and that I always can link to when someone asks me a question about it! I know there’s tons of information about it already, but it will ofcourse include pictures and useful tips, you know? :)
- How can I make this blog more ‘popular’ or better known? HOW? Tips are very much welcome ;) I’d love to get more comments :(

This is yesterday’s picture of my 365 project, I only photoshopped the colours! Somehow I really like it, although it annoys me that my face isn’t sharp, but whatever! There was glitter EVERYWHERE. When I brushed my hair today, there was still glitter coming out! Even my MacBook has glitter on it, it’s ridiculous.

And the last one: a really, really old one which I still love. Yes, that’s me and yes I have really really long black hair. I have to admit that those were extensions though, but compared to my hair now, it was still very long! I took this picture about.. 3 years ago. Time goes fast!

Hairspiration!

I should be posting more here, but I don’t really know which direction I want to go with this blog. I think I’ll just make it a bit of a mash up, with lots of eyecandy (that’s always a must, I promise!)
Anyway, lately I haven’t been doing anything useful, besides working at Subway (yes, besides an illustrator/artist, I’m now also a ‘sandwich artist’! I kid you not, my contract actually says that!). I’ve been busy with my 365 days project, which is going well! You can follow my project on my Flickr! I have no inspiration for today though… mmm..
Further than that I’ve been doing.. well.. nothing actually. I’m enjoying my free time while watching my favourite tv shows like Ugly Betty & Gossip Girl! I think I’m getting bored of this very soon! I want to open an Etsy store soon, still have to figure out what to sell! I think prints of my pictures and illustrations. I’m also getting ill, I feel so shitty the past few days! Everything hurts, my head feels like it’s going to explode! So, I’m just going to sit in bed with a cup of honey tea and watch my favourite tv shows after this post :)

De Parade @ Amsterdam

Lots of stuff have happened lately, but I’ll just keep it short! This Sunday I came back to my dormroom, with my parents helping me with a new closet! So now I have two closets for my clothes, that’s how bad my shopping addiction is ;) I’ve also cleaned up my entire room like crazy, I’m not even finished yet! Hopefully by tomorrow, it’s taking days! But it feels nice and fresh :) Anyway, I came back because I have to babysit a kittykat for a month. Right now I’m at the house of my friends (of the kittykat ;)), it’s really nice to be in a bigger house on your own! :D Although the cat’s very shy, I’ll try if I can take a picture of her this week ;)
On Monday I went to the Parade at Amsterdam, which is a theatre festival! Although we hardly saw any theatre, it was still really fun :) I took lots of pictures, it’s always fun to take pictures of other people!
Yesterday I had a photoshoot with Niqi and Richa. Niqi is a friend of mine who is a photographer, sometimes I ‘model’ for her. I think modelling is totally awkward and I kinda suck in it, lol. It’s really weird, I always feel ridiculous while taking a pose! Maybe it gets better if I’d do it more, idk. Anyway, it made me realise that I actually want to do that to: organizing photoshoots with models, not myself, not just random photographs like in this post, but a real shoot! Than I realised that I actually want to follow an education, to develop myself as a photographer! So right now I’m looking at parttime photography educations, I might follow one next year! Doing a parttime education will give me the chance to also work a few days, so I still have the money to pay for my rent and food ;) I’ll work a year first though, so I can save up the money for the education! I think it’s a really good idea :D

I ate too much meat today

I’ve been busy lately with my school assignment, but not really sure about it. I tdo like the pictures, but I just don’t think they’re good enough! They’re good enough on it’s own, I love them, but not for my assignment I think! I’m not sure yet :x I’ve been at my parents for more than 2 weeks now, but tomorrow I’ll be heading to my own city again! I’ll be babysitting a kitten (okay cat, kitten just sounds more cute ;)) from a friend, who’ll be leaving to Greece for about a month! That’s a long time, yes! My parents are so sweet to bring me there by car, since I have so much stuff to carry along: all those new books, new clothes, new bags, new cameras, my jars! And I’m also getting an extra closet, so I’ll have more space for my clothes! Yay :D I do hope my parents won’t collapse by seeing the mess that is my room D:
I also had my bankaccount verified at Paypal so I started buying things. First of all I’ve bought myself a Flickr Pro account, amazing! I love it, I also came across some really old photos, like these! It’s a bit embarrassing sometimes, but I’m too nostalgic to actually delete them :P
I’ve also made an account at Etsy, finally! I’ve bought some feather pads, which weren’t that expensive! I’m so excited, now I can make my own feather headbands very easily!! :D
