Mini update

Hello, I’m still alive but I haven’t been able to update the blog sooner. My life right now is all about work, and hardly about any fun! Although I do enjoy my days off, I don’t really do much, not even taking pictures! So I haven’t got much to post, actually. In 4 weeks I will get my life back, but for now it’s all about work. I don’t really mind though, that way I can save up money for a new camera. I really want the Canon EOS 7D, but it’s really expensive. If the 60D comes out soon, I’ll probably go for that one. I’ve been waiting for it for ages though! I have also bought a new phone, a smartphone so I can actually use it for internet and apps. It should arrive Thuesday, I’m very excited!

My hair is growing fast! As you can see the roots are gigantic and the shaved part is already tons longer. I still really like it! I haven’t dyed my hair for almost 3 months now! I’m proud of myself ;)

New headband and stuff

An update earlier than planned! Today I received my camera’s remote in the mail: superfast! I ordered it about a week ago, and it has already arrived, all the way from Hong Kong. It costs 3 euro, that is including shipping and batteries, crazy! My old remote costs 30 euro, and I spend 10 euro alone on new batteries. If I had known this, I would have ordered the ‘fake’ one from eBay immediately. Now I’m stuck with expensive batteries I can’t use! Oh well, at least I have a remote again :)

Also bought a new headband, which is ofcourse a good reason to take pictures ;) It’s so pretty!

It’s still really hot here, although it’s thundering and raining right now. It’s not raining that hard, but I do hope it will cool down a bit. It’s getting unbearable! :( Thank god I have a fan!

I’m loving my hair right now, I can’t wait to grow it all out for a few months so I can finally have healthy hair in my very own haircolour! After that I’ll bleach it again, ofcourse ;) But it’s fun :)

Testing out the new remote. As you can tell I really love hair accessories! It’s also too hot to wear glasses, but contacts are so annoying sometimes. I have also bought a new dress. And new shorts, shirts, glasses.. I’ll make a post about those soon :)

Fresh strawberries are the best thing ever!

I cooked myself some dinner and it looked (and tasted) so delicious that I had to take a picture of it! I need to cook more often, I wish I didn’t hate cooking so much (or that I’m so lazy ;))

I’m downloading True Blood right now, I need another cheesy tv-show now I’ve finished all the Glee eps :(

I’m still here

I would like to inform you all that I’m still alive! However, the last couple of weeks it has been really, really hot and humid here in the Netherlands. It’s almost unbearable :( It’s not really the weather to take pictures or be active, plus I had to work ofcourse! My camera’s remote is still broken, I have ordered a new one but it will probably take forever till it’s here. I’ve been busy a lot and haven’t used my camera much, so that’s why I hardly updated. I will have to work A LOT so don’t expect much updates soon ;)

What have I been doing the last weeks? While, like I said, I worked, spent lots of time at sea or at friends, watched a lot of Glee (so sad this season’s over, I want to watch more!) and read a lot. That’s it, basically. Right now I’m reading Twilight (yes, that Twilight!) and it’s so boring I’m not sure if I can complete it!

I also got a haircut, as you can see it’s REALLY SHORT. That’s my natural haircolour, ladies and gentlemen! The other side is still ‘long’ though :) It was a bit of a shock, it wasn’t my intention to get it cut that short, but the hairdresser basically buzzed half of my hair of. I really like it now though, and it’s really nice with this hot weather!
(and yes, my hair so short/light/thin even that you can see that huge mole on my head, do not want! it’s growing really fast though :))

I have an addiction, yes.

I collect lots of things, I really am a collector. It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of thrift-stores, I visit the ones in my area at least once a week and I’m a huge sucker for flea markets. However, at one point I grew up and realized that I couldn’t bring everything with me! If you’ll stand in my room, you’ll definitely notice that I have a lot, A LOT, of stuff! I collect all kinds of different things, and one of those weird things is: hairproducts! I love buying hairproducts like a crazy old nerdy man cherishes his post stamps! Today I bought some new products (again) and decided to take a picture of the things I use at the moment. Yes, at the moment. I have to admit that I have at least 5 other shampoos, hair masks, conditioners.. and styling products! I have tons of styling products left, and hairdye! It used to be much worse, I’ve thrown so many prodcuts away in the past. I could go on forever. Here’s a picture of the things I use at the moment..

When you have platinum hair, you’ll soon learn that it requires A LOT of upkeep! When I dye my hair a different colour (like with henna!) I only use a simple shampoo, conditioner and like one bottle of styling product, that’s it! But with (damaged, ouch) whiteblonde hair? Well then I use: two different kinds of purple shampoo (one is less harsh than the other.. one is better for my hair than the other etc.), a purple conditioner, a hair mask (two this time, a ‘normal’ one and one with purple dye in it, to cancel the yellow out), a deep repairing leave in lotion, coconut oil (best thing ever, makes your hair soft and shiny! and.. greasy? ew!), hairvitamins (which I always forget to take!) and last but definitely not least: bleach! I use expensive bleach this time, normally I use really cheap bleach. Platinum hair, it really is a huge investment :P I want everyone to think it through thoroughly before bleaching your hair ;)
I can’t help it, every time I see something that smells nice, has a nice package or just promises me to heal my hair.. I just have to buy it! I’m also addicted to anything that says ‘de-yellowing’ :D
And if it’s not a hair product, than it’s dye! I have no idea why I’m so obsessed with my hair, but I just am! :P

I also loooove hair accessoires! One of my favourites are feather headbands! I buy the feather pads at Etsy and glue them on a headband myself. They’re so pretty :)

And now for something completely different, a small outfit picture! (I know this post has a lot of Myspace selfportraits going on ;)) I bought the jacket at the thrift store, I love it!

Now I’m off, going to catch up with a friend with a nice glass of wine. It was such nice weather today, so I’ll finish the day in summerstyle ;)

(and yes I still like to make my pictures look really blue/purpleish.. it’s just a phase ;))

The jacket

It seems like a lot of blogs are into fashion nowadays. People are even getting famous because of their fashion blog, it’s crazy! Anyway, I do not intend to get famous, but it seems like people are showing interest in my fashion choices. So today I tried to take a picture of my outfit so I could upload it to the blog ;) I hardly dress up anymore, most of the time I work, work, work :( Yet I keep buying stuff, mostly dresses! And if I dress up, I’m way too lazy to take pictures. Plus there’s hardly any good space here to take pictures and I don’t want to show you my messy room ;) So here are a few pictures, and yes I wear that jacket way too often.

Hat is from the thriftstore, dress & jacket from H&M! I know I cut off my legs but otherwise it would look odd in the blog’s layout so yeah.. sue me ;) It’s the perfect summerdress!

New glasses, also from H&M :) And new hair! It’s lighter now.

New hair and a new lipstick! It was a pain in the ass to get my hair even, the ends on top even turned out orange! This time I used a different bleach than usual and it got really light and not so yellow as usual! I cut a lot of ends of though, because they were dead and orange, lol. Now I need to leave it alone and grow it out, since the ends are still dead, I’ll probably have to keep it really short like this for a while though. Oh well :P It wasn’t even my intention to go this light but it just.. happened? :x
The lipstick is from Rimmel and is called ‘Fever Red’. I’ve been wanting to buy an ‘expensive’ red lipstick forever, but always thought it would be a waste of money since I hardly wear lipstick. I had cheap ones before and they always turned out pink and washed out after only 20 minutes or so! But this one is amazing, definitely worth the money, plus it was 50% priced off :D What more do I want? ;) I also bought foundation, lately my skin looks so red! Might be the new hair, although I never had this before when I had platinum hair :x
That is also a new dress that I’m wearing, by the way. So many clothes, so many useless days I can’t wear them!

I also saw Bright Star last week and I really liked it, the cinematography was so gorgeous! Will make a small picture post about it soon :)

Glasses

Today I picked up my new glasses and I love them! I’ve had glasses since I was a little child, 4 to be precise. So I can’t really imagine my life without my glasses, without bad eyesight. I also wear contacts a lot of the time, since I don’t always like the glasses on me. I’m not sure yet if I like myself better with or without glasses, but I do think without! Don’t get me wrong, I love glasses and I obviously choose very ‘visible’ glasses, haha, you can’t deny them. But there are also a few downsides, like they really narrow my eyes (my prescription is about -7), and it makes my face a bit more harsh. But still, glasses are amazing! I can’t deny that I’m annoyed by hipsters that wear glasses without prescription, just because it’s artsy or cool, but on the other hand I do understand how fashionable glasses are! However, in my opinion it’s still lame to wear glasses without prescription ;) Oh well, too each their own!

Also, I got the job at de Efteling!! Yaaaay :D For outsiders: it’s a Dutch theme park, you can sort of compare it to Disneyland Paris, I guess? Anyway, I’ll be working with some other (ex) art-students/theaterpeople so that’s going to be a lot of fun! I’m really looking forward to it :)

And now to something less important: I’m not sure what to do with my hair. I’ll keep it like this for a while, but the color is a bit weird. It looks so different in different lightnings! It looks a bit orange in daylight, but when I’m warm light, like in stores, it looks like a pretty, non orange, light blonde! Sigh, it’s confusing. I’ll probably have to either bleach it again, or dye it a shade darker with a greyish darkblonde. Not sure yet!

Also I’m totally addicted to Dexter (the tv-show ;)) right now! I’m now going to watch the last episode of season 2 so noooo spoilers please! This season is just so thrilling!

These are my ‘old’ glasses, I’ll still be wearing them since I love them as well! I know they look similar but the colouring is different! And the frames are too, actually. I’m very picky when it comes to glasses, I hardly find any glasses fitting.
Also, that’s my favourite summer jacket! It’s been so warm the last couple of days so I’ve been wearing it non-stop <3 Love it!

Well that was an exciting post, only.. not really! Sorry for the lack of interesting updates!

This week I celebrated my 22th birthday! Time really flies by, I’m not sure if I like it, though. I had a party with my friends, it was so much fun and I got so many presents! I could hardly squeeze all of my friends into my dorm room, so many people! Also got lots of Hello Kitty stuff, it seems like people don’t think I’ve enough of that stuff already ;) I think I can open a Hello Kitty museum, haha. Here on the picture I show my partyoutfit, plus my new hair colour, my new headband AND my new dress ;) I love them all :D
I have also had a job interview at the Efteling, which is a Dutch theme park. It’s based on fairy tales and full of wonderful things, rollercoasters, musicals, a fairy forest.. just lots of stuff, really. Let’s just say it’s the Dutch Disney World! For the foreign readers there’s a Wiki page about it ;) I really hope I get the job! What could be more awesome than working in a fairy tale themed.. theme park?? (Besides making money being an artist/illustrator/photographer, of course ;)) Ever since I studied illustration my interests for fairy tales just never stopped growing. I even wrote my bachelor thesis about Snow White, the evolution of her story throughout the centuries! My graduation project was a graphic novel about Neil Gaiman’s story about Snow White. Needless to say, I love fairy tales! I’ve even been thinking about doing a photography project about fairy tales, it could be awesome.
I’m ready for a change! I’ve already changed my hair, but I need more! ;)

Fog

Yesterday there was tons of fog the whole day. I was at my parents and really wanted to go outside and take some pictures, but had some family obligations. Fortunately, I got out just in time to take a few pictures in the forest. Ah, how I love fog, it always makes pretty pictures! It reminded me of last year, around the same time as now (actually, it was also almost the same date, with only 3 days in between!) where it was really foggy as well and I took really nice pictures. So I hopped on my bike and rode to the forest! Here are some pictures of yesterday. And yeah, lots of selfies again, sorry.

My hair has been fading a lot lately, it looks awful! I’m dying it right now with henna, so that’s why I’m probably making this post: out of boredom, haha! I also might going to make a henna post soon! You know, a ‘how to’ post..

And last but definitely not least: meet my future husband! I know, he’s very attractive. Also a bit quiet, but I like that, so much easier!

Hairspiration!

I should be posting more here, but I don’t really know which direction I want to go with this blog. I think I’ll just make it a bit of a mash up, with lots of eyecandy (that’s always a must, I promise!)
Anyway, lately I haven’t been doing anything useful, besides working at Subway (yes, besides an illustrator/artist, I’m now also a ‘sandwich artist’! I kid you not, my contract actually says that!). I’ve been busy with my 365 days project, which is going well! You can follow my project on my Flickr! I have no inspiration for today though… mmm..
Further than that I’ve been doing.. well.. nothing actually. I’m enjoying my free time while watching my favourite tv shows like Ugly Betty & Gossip Girl! I think I’m getting bored of this very soon! I want to open an Etsy store soon, still have to figure out what to sell! I think prints of my pictures and illustrations. I’m also getting ill, I feel so shitty the past few days! Everything hurts, my head feels like it’s going to explode! So, I’m just going to sit in bed with a cup of honey tea and watch my favourite tv shows after this post :)

Also, for my graduation my parents are giving me the Sigma 30mm 1.4 eeeeeeh! It’s hopefully arriving tomorrow, so psyched :D I can’t believe my parents are giving me such an expensive gift!! I almost feel guilty :x And spoiled, definitely!

Yes, I’m still alive!

Hello everyone, yes, as the title says so, I’m still alive! I haven’t posted in months! I didn’t even realize that it has been such a long time ago. So here’s a very short update (expect more and bigger ones soon, I have lots of pictures to show you guys! I wonder if anybody is still reading this, besides my brother ;))
- In the last post I was talking about an assessment/retake for school. Last summer I failed art school and I needed to redo a project, which I did at the end of August. Well, I failed again!
- Tomorrow I have ANOTHER assessment, and if that one’s finally good enough, I’m graduated!
- In the meantime I’ve been shooting lots of pictures for my 365 days project, my grandparents 60th anniversary (yes, 60 years of marriage, woah!) and cats & castles in little jars. That’s about it, really! Oh and I now work at Subway so I’m also a ‘sandwich artist’ now! Yes, it actually says that in the contract, haha :D
- I’ve chopped all my hair of, dyed it darkbrown, then it became darkblonde, then more copper and now at the moment it’s bright red!
- This is kind of procrastinating but I just felt the urge to post! This blog really needs a new layout!

Here’s a picture of my schoolproject, so you can see what I’m working on! This picture has actually been on Explore on Flickr, which means it’s one of the top 500 most interesting uploads of that day (and believe me, there are TONS and TONS of pictures being uploaded on Flickr on a day.. so a top 500 isn’t that much ;)). It is now my most popular picture on Flickr, with 255 favourites and almost 3000 views, wow! I also really like it :)
