Oh Edinburgh, how I love you! I feel like these pictures don’t do you any justice and our time together was way too short, but let’s try and make a blog entry about you. Again: I only had my Olympus Pen with me with the 20mm f1.7 lens, which isn’t very convenient for traveling. There’s no zooming in or out, just one image. This can be quite good for portraits, for example, but it’s not so good for holidays I think. Oh well, I tried my best! I also brought my Olympus Trip 35 (analog compact camera) with me, same story though. I just got them developed and the quality is a bit underwhelming, sadly. But will post those pictures soon :)
Anyway, on to Edinburgh. I went there from London by train, which was the best option. Not only is it cheap (it costs me about 30 euros, advance booking is a must! I used the Eurail site.) but it’s also a lot more comfortable than flying. It’s a long ride, about 4,5 hours, but flying will probably cost as much time. You have to go from London to the airport by bus (to Stansted, for example, this is like an one hour ride), be there on time (at least an hour beforehand), lots of hassle with luggage and passport and shit and when you have arrived at Edinburgh airport, you still have to take the bus there to get to the centre of Edinburgh. In fact, the airport bus stops right next to the train station. So yeah, going by train was the most convenient.
Edinburgh itself was even more beautiful than I remembered and it’s wonderful to discover you still know the way to everything. Going to a city for the second time makes everything so much easier! I just walked around for a bit, went to a few art galleries that I didn’t see last time, find a few new views, still climbed to Arthur’s Seat (the weather was really good but there was SO much wind, it was quite alarming) and at one point I even climbed onto a cliff like freaking Spiderman (true story!) and at the last night I was so tired that I went to the cinema nearby my hotel and saw The Grand Budapest Hotel. After obsessively photographing it’s posters in the tube in London, I felt like I had to see it. It was so good! After that I went for a little walk.. it’s crazy how small Edinburgh is compared to London. And where are the people? London is a bit too overcrowded (am I getting old?!), where Edinburgh is calm and small. It felt like a good combination, my head could use some rest after 4 days of London :)
I’m missing Edinburgh a wee bit already (see what I did there? I tried to be quirky and use some Scottish word in a post about a city in Scotland WOW, much amazing!).
This blog is slowly turning into a personal travel blog, I realize. I find it hard to write anything interesting though, I mean, we all know you’re here to look at the pictures ;) Even though I had a crappy camera with me, I still took thousands (well, okay, not literally) of pictures. So here’s the first post of more to come…
(also, after editing a few pictures I ran out of the RadLab trial, so they might look a bit differently edited. Some are just not that.. Rad *badoom tssh*)

Haha, I use “wee” (as an adverd, not as in “pee”) all the time! :P
These are great. Did you discover any new place you hadn’t been before? There’s a little shop/gallery in Victoria street that I loved, The Red Door gallery. It had the prettiest papergoods and homeware. Did you have a deep-fried mars bar? :D
God, I want to go back.
