Knitting, knitting, knitting!

Hello, I’m still alive! I hardly blog here anymore because there isn’t much going on lately. I hardly take pictures anymore and if I do, they’re mostly selfportraits. I hate blogging only selfportraits because that’s what’s Flickr for ;) So that’s why I haven’t posted in the new year yet!
I’m really bored at the moment so that’s why I’m taking a little time to write something. I have no idea what to tell you besides the usual stuff: I’m doing okay, I’m still working fulltime (at the Subway as in sandwichstore woohoo ;)) and I still have no life, really! I love those blogs full with pictures of friends and parties but my friends never want their pictures taken so I’ll just have to tell you I actually have friends and yes, I do see them ;) I’ve been going out a lot lately, which is fun ofcourse. I have also acquired a bowl hat and red lipstick, as you might have noticed. I love them both, although I really need to get a better lipstick because this one fades after 15 minutes! My hair has also grown like crazy and I’m really thankful for that ;) I can’t believe it used to be so short 4 months ago!

Anyway here’s the scarf I’ve finished at Christmas! I always hate Christmas because it’s so long and boring. But it was the perfect time to knit ;)

Right now I’m knitting a blue scarf for my mother, but somehow it’s not going as fast as the other ones. I need to knit more. It’s not finished yet but it’s getting there!

So, now I feel inspired to knit some more! I’m going to watch some tv-shows (probably Lost or Misfits, did anyone see the new Skins yet? Didn’t like it that much, but that’s probably because I don’t like Thomas that much.. Curious for next episode!) and knit like crazy! I actually have lots of more wool so I need to hurry up so I can knit more! I have no idea what I’ll be doing after this one (besides making a scarf, haha, I can’t do anything else and it’s just so easy), so many colours to choose from. Maybe I’ll make a pattern or something, or stripes! :)

Winter part II

Here are some more photos from this week of snow! Yeah they are all edited differently and stuff, but they’re not a set so don’t sue me! :P
It’s been almost a week full of snow, it’s ridiculous! All public transport has been one big drama, the trains are hardly riding and if they are, there are tons of delays. Same goes for busses, we’re not used to that much snow here in The Netherlands. The snow’s slowly melting though, and I have to admit that I’m glad! I hope the trains will be normal again on Thursday, since I’ll be heading to my parents for Christmas. I’ve downloaded all Ugly Betty episodes I haven’t seen yet and bought lots of wool, so I can knit like crazy in the train and at my parents. I have to admit, I’m not a big Christmas fan, I actually find it quiet boring. But now I’ve find something to kill the time: knit! Right now I’m working on a huge neon pink scarf, hopefully it will be finished after Christmas. I’ve knitted the purple scarf below as well *proud*

Winter is finally here

Yes I’m still alive! I need to update this blog more often, but I honestly never know what to post. I do have tons of selfportraits that I could post, but I would feel a bit narcissistic :P But that way I would never update this blog again! So here are some shots of last Thursday. It’s been really cold the last few days, tonight it was freezing, -15 celsius! Last week it was way warmer, I can’t adjust this fast! Snow is cold and sometimes dangerous, but it does make pretty pictures :) I’ve had this idea in my head for a long time now and I was so glad it was finally snowing! Although eventually it didn’t turn out as great as I’ve expected it to be, plus I forgot a few things because I was in a hurry, but I can do that tomorrow as well. There’s still snow!
On my way to the forest I fell REALLY hard from my bike, I actually fell flat on my face! My nose was red and swollen (you can see that in the picture above ;)), it still is a bit swollen and painful :( My bike’s now broken too so I can’t even bike anymore, maybe that’s for the best!
Yesterday I had a wedding and I took some pictures there as well, might post them soon :) I mean it’s also nice to see something different than my head :P

I bought “Special Topics in Calamity Physics” (god I like the dutch title so much better!) by Marisha Pessl. Is it any good?

Now I’m going to prepare to go home again (I’m at my parents right now, home = my dorm, it’s where I live, so I always call it home!), going to watch ugly betty in a trainride of 2 hours! And knit, knit like crazy. I’ve been knitting a lot lately, I forgot to mention that. Will post pictures of my scarf soon! It’s huge and right now I’m already knitting another one! I’m going to wear tights underneath my jeans because it’s FREEZING COLD D:

Fog

Yesterday there was tons of fog the whole day. I was at my parents and really wanted to go outside and take some pictures, but had some family obligations. Fortunately, I got out just in time to take a few pictures in the forest. Ah, how I love fog, it always makes pretty pictures! It reminded me of last year, around the same time as now (actually, it was also almost the same date, with only 3 days in between!) where it was really foggy as well and I took really nice pictures. So I hopped on my bike and rode to the forest! Here are some pictures of yesterday. And yeah, lots of selfies again, sorry.

My hair has been fading a lot lately, it looks awful! I’m dying it right now with henna, so that’s why I’m probably making this post: out of boredom, haha! I also might going to make a henna post soon! You know, a ‘how to’ post..

Some random stuff

-Today my new lens arrived, the picture above is taken with it! I love it so much, it’s so amazing. I love how sharp and crisp it is and aah, the bokeh! How I love bokeh! It’s a Sigma 30mm 1.4 and it’s wonderful. Most of the time I used a (canon) 50mm 1.8, but because my DSLR has a cropfactor, the 50mm became more like 80mm (or whatever), so that’s really annoying. This one is specially designed for DSLRs with a cropfactor, it’s such a relief! Now I never have to lean back and all that jazz, plus it’s 1.4 instead of 1.8! Total win/win situation ;) This weekend I’m going to my parents to celebrate my mother’s & brother’s birthday AND my graduation, so I’ll be sure to take a lot of pictures then! Lately I’ve been only taking selfportraits and after a while it gets boring to only post selfportraits.. But alas, this post is all about selfportraits.. AGAIN. I’m sorry! It’s the only thing I have to do everyday, for my 365 days project. I swear I’m not a huge narcissist haha!
- Today I found a library book back by accident! I had lost it 2 months ago and was expecting a bill for a new book every second.. so I ran to the library and handed it in. I only had to pay 3 euro! When I got home today after work I found the bill on my doormat: 20 euro! So glad I’ve found it, just saved myself 17 euro ;) I know, that was random and uninteresting haha.
- I’m thinking about making a ‘to do’ post about henna soon. I need to redo my hair and people always ask me tons of questions about it, so I might as well make a post about it that everybody can read.. and that I always can link to when someone asks me a question about it! I know there’s tons of information about it already, but it will ofcourse include pictures and useful tips, you know? :)
- How can I make this blog more ‘popular’ or better known? HOW? Tips are very much welcome ;) I’d love to get more comments :(

This is yesterday’s picture of my 365 project, I only photoshopped the colours! Somehow I really like it, although it annoys me that my face isn’t sharp, but whatever! There was glitter EVERYWHERE. When I brushed my hair today, there was still glitter coming out! Even my MacBook has glitter on it, it’s ridiculous.

Hairspiration!

I should be posting more here, but I don’t really know which direction I want to go with this blog. I think I’ll just make it a bit of a mash up, with lots of eyecandy (that’s always a must, I promise!)
Anyway, lately I haven’t been doing anything useful, besides working at Subway (yes, besides an illustrator/artist, I’m now also a ’sandwich artist’! I kid you not, my contract actually says that!). I’ve been busy with my 365 days project, which is going well! You can follow my project on my Flickr! I have no inspiration for today though… mmm..
Further than that I’ve been doing.. well.. nothing actually. I’m enjoying my free time while watching my favourite tv shows like Ugly Betty & Gossip Girl! I think I’m getting bored of this very soon! I want to open an Etsy store soon, still have to figure out what to sell! I think prints of my pictures and illustrations. I’m also getting ill, I feel so shitty the past few days! Everything hurts, my head feels like it’s going to explode! So, I’m just going to sit in bed with a cup of honey tea and watch my favourite tv shows after this post :)

I haven’t taken much pictures yet and since I don’t want to post too much pictures of myself, here are some of my hairspiration pictures! I desperately want to grow my hair out so I have a folder called “hairspiration”, here are few pictures out of it!

Autumn! :)

I’m trying to post more, now I have all the time again! It still feels so weird to be finished with school. This weekend is my first real weekend since.. 10 years or so? The first weekend without work or homework! It feels really weird, because I have the constant feeling I have to do something.. something useful. But it’s sinking in, I’m finally realizing that I don’t have to do a thing anymore! Besides my 365 days project, that is. It feels really great! Right now I’ve been mostly enjoying my free time, but I also need to think of the future. What do I want to do? I do know that I don’t want to be an illustrator, but do I want to be a photographer as well? I need to figure things out! Hopefully I can get this entitlement for artists, because I really need money and time to figure things out. Right now I don’t earn enough money at the Subway to pay the bills (well, I can pay the bills, but not the food, haha!) and I really don’t want (and can’t anyway) work there like 5/6 days a week! But it’s all a bit hard to figure out yet, because I really like photography, but don’t think I’m skilled enough (yet?) to be a professional photographer! Plus, do I want to ruin my love for photography by making it my job? I’m not so sure about that! Even my 365 project isn’t that fun to me anymore :( The picture above is from today, it’s the 55th picture from my 365 project! It goes fast!

Yeah, boring story! Anyway, I’ve changed my layout a tiny bit so I can post bigger pictures! Still looking for a new layout but I can’t find one that I really like :( I’m not sure if you’re familiar with bloglovin.com, but if you are, you can follow my blog there! It’s a really handy site, I love it! (You just have to search for “Angelica Vis” and my blog will be on the top of the list! :))
Now I’m off doing things that really matter: eating lots of chocolate (got a Hello Kitty chocolate cake, Hello Kitty chocolate eggs & just a box full of chocolate at my graduationparty! It’s crazy!) & watching Gossip Girl ;)

Hurray!

I GRADUATED!! Hallelujah ;) It took a loooong time but now it’s finally over! I am very, very tired right now, so that’s why I might not look that happy on that picture, but I am! It’s really weird though, because I don’t feel really happy yet. I mean, I thought this would be the most happy day of the year, but I don’t feel that way. Not because I’m ungrateful or anything, it just feels like reality isn’t really kicking in yet? I’ve been busy with graduating for SO long (I’ve started in February and have been working on my redo since July!) that it feels really odd now it’s finished. I don’t feel really relaxed yet, I still have the feeling I have to do stuff, but I don’t have to. It’s a very weird feeling, but I’m sure it will fade soon :)
I’m just really happy it’s over and I’m also happy with the new things I’ve created :) Here are some pictures of today’s presentation.. it aren’t the greatest pictures nor presentation ever.. but at least it’s something ;) Now I’m probably off to bed, haha! I’m going to sleep in tomorrow without feeling guilty <3 Just like I've done nothing tonight except editing pictures and other useless things, without feeling guilty because I have to do something for school! It feels amazing :) Tomorrow I'm going to Rotterdam, to Primark, which is this very cheap clothing store. I have to treat myself after all that hard work, you know ;)

I'll be working a new layout this week! I really don't like this one anymore :(

Yes, I’m still alive!

Hello everyone, yes, as the title says so, I’m still alive! I haven’t posted in months! I didn’t even realize that it has been such a long time ago. So here’s a very short update (expect more and bigger ones soon, I have lots of pictures to show you guys! I wonder if anybody is still reading this, besides my brother ;))
- In the last post I was talking about an assessment/retake for school. Last summer I failed art school and I needed to redo a project, which I did at the end of August. Well, I failed again!
- Tomorrow I have ANOTHER assessment, and if that one’s finally good enough, I’m graduated!
- In the meantime I’ve been shooting lots of pictures for my 365 days project, my grandparents 60th anniversary (yes, 60 years of marriage, woah!) and cats & castles in little jars. That’s about it, really! Oh and I now work at Subway so I’m also a ’sandwich artist’ now! Yes, it actually says that in the contract, haha :D
- I’ve chopped all my hair of, dyed it darkbrown, then it became darkblonde, then more copper and now at the moment it’s bright red!
- This is kind of procrastinating but I just felt the urge to post! This blog really needs a new layout!

Here’s a picture of my schoolproject, so you can see what I’m working on! This picture has actually been on Explore on Flickr, which means it’s one of the top 500 most interesting uploads of that day (and believe me, there are TONS and TONS of pictures being uploaded on Flickr on a day.. so a top 500 isn’t that much ;)). It is now my most popular picture on Flickr, with 255 favourites and almost 3000 views, wow! I also really like it :)

359 days left!

The ‘365 days’ project is going well! I’m on the 6th day today, I took this picture for today! I went to the Ikea to buy some bookshelves and also bought this beautiful fabric. When I got home (quiet late) this idea just popped into my head! Sometimes it’s hard to make something creative everyday, even after 6 days. I mean it’s really hard to create something every single day, 365 days long. Some days you just don’t feel like doing anything, or you’re just tired, or you just don’t have any inspiration at all. Yet you do have to take that inspiring, creative selfportrait. I don’t think every selfportrait will be very creative, but I do love the project. I love it because this way I keep productive and I really like the stuff I’ve created so far. :) I probably wouldn’t have made some things if it weren’t for this project, most of them turned out suprisingly nice.

This week is going to be busy, tomorrow I might go to Amsterdam (not sure yet though), Wednesday I have my exams resit, which basically means that if I finally get a good grade on my project, I’ve graduated from artschool! Needless to say I’M SO NERVOUS OMG! So, Thursday my parents and brother are coming to my town, so I can finally show them the city after 4 years. On Friday I have a birthdayparty of a good friend of mine and hopefully Saturday a small, last mine graduationparty for my family? But ofcourse I’m not sure about that.. Can’t wait for Wednesday to be over D: (If I pass, that is, if I don’t I never want it to be Wednesday lol!)
Also my hair is freaking greasy, I haven’t washed it in a week.. well not with shampoo that is. Like I said in my previous blog, I’m on the ‘no poo’ diet, which basically means you’re only washing your hair with conditioner. But it’s looking so gross and I really need to get my roots done.. ugh. Might just wash it in a few days anyway, can’t handle it anymore :P

I could start an animal shelter, I think. This is Ming Shu, a kitty of a friend of mine! Right now I’m babysitting Mao, an other cat from another friend ;) But now I’m babysitting Ming Shu AND Dunny (a bunny!) too. Boy oh boy, I do love animals :P

I have lived here at Mao’s place (the kitty, obviously :P) for 2 weeks now and have cooked almost everyday. I feel so healthy.. except today, I ate fries at Ikea.

I’m so tired right now but I need to get more schoolwork done! I need to finish the typography of the pictures.. I suck so hard at typography, I hate it with a passion :(
